Denture repair in Scotland: NHS or private?
When a denture breaks you have two routes in Scotland: through your NHS dentist, or straight to a private repair clinic like ours. Here is how each one works, so you can pick what suits you.

Going through your NHS dentist
If you are registered with an NHS dentist, they can arrange a repair for you. NHS dental examinations are free for everyone in Scotland. For treatment, NHS patients who pay are charged 80% of the cost, up to a maximum of £384 for a course of treatment, and some people pay nothing, for example everyone under 26.
Your dentist usually sends the denture to a lab, so ask them how long you will be without it and what you will pay. NHS inform has the full rules on charges and who gets free treatment.
Coming straight to us
At our clinic on Merry Street, Motherwell, the lab is right behind reception. You walk in or book a time, hand your denture over, and most repairs are ready in under an hour while you wait.
Our prices are fixed and shown before you come, and you pay once it is fixed. There is nothing to pay when you book.
- Snapped denture: £70
- Cracked denture: £60
- Broken tooth: £50 per tooth
- Add a new tooth: £40 per tooth
- Reline: £160 per arch
Which is right for you?
If you can manage without your denture for a while, or your dental treatment is free, it is worth asking your NHS dentist first. If you need it back today, for work, an event or simply to eat and speak comfortably, a same day private repair is usually the quicker way.
Either way, take the denture out, keep every piece and do not glue it.
